Every dad dreams of having a son, a boy to walk in his footsteps. Too bad dreams and reality rarely meet. A father’s job is to prepare his son for manhood but also to give him enough space to find himself (and we all know little boys like to do that). It’s not easy raising a little man- they tend to have minds of their own- but with a little guidance (for both of you) there’s nothing that fathers and sons can’t work through to develop a bond unlike any other.
“Many people now believe that if fathers are more involved in raising children than they were, children and sons in particular will learn that men can be warm and supportive of others as well as be high achievers. Thus, fathers' involvement may be beneficial not because it will help support traditional male roles, but because it will help break them down.” – Joseph H. Phleck, Author, The Myth of Masculinity
